I've said before that I'm not much of a snow person. By that I mean that I don't enjoy playing in it all that much, who likes to be cold and wet? But I do like to look at it. It's amazing how such pretty fluffy stuff can totally "cripple" our society by keeping people at home and disrupting their normal routines. The news called it Snowstorm 2011 like it was this awful thing, but I maintain that our almost universal snow day last Wednesday was a blessing. True, teachers get snow days but Wednesday, almost everyone I knew got one. And it was a great day.
No need to hurry out of the house to get to school/work. No rat race to run in that day. No schedule to keep. No cars needed to be started. Pajamas stayed on for a long time. TV was watched. Daddy got to stay home and play for a change. Snow was played in. Hot cocoa and junk food was eaten. 2 pots of coffee made. Everyone deserves a snow day. On Wednesday, many people discovered that it wouldn't end the world to stay home and shut down regular life for a day and just RELAX. The whole world would benefit from a snow day now and then.
