4 Years Old

I think this picture pretty much sums it up, he's not a baby anymore. Of course he'll always be my baby but he definately has that big boy look now. When his preschool teachers gave me pictures of him throughout the year, I couldn't believe how little he was back in the fall. I couldn't even remember him still fitting into the clothes he was wearing in one picture! I know they grow fast but that's really fast, too fast.

But even though he's becoming a big kid, he still is Z, a unique character indeed. And his love of costumes is still going strong. This year's party theme was pirates. He was excited to get a Jack Sparrow costume even though he's never seen the movie!

The big hit was the Buzz Lightyear action figure, thank you Grandma Folger! He even wrote his name on Buzz's foot like Andy did in the movie. (While Toy Story is a cute movie, I curse Disney for joining forces with Mattel and their marketing genius.)

Arrrrr.... It was another chilly day in the park. I think we'll move indoors next year. Z had fun and now asks politely for another birthday when he wants something. Funny when you want another birthday right way isn't it? Happy Birthday Buddy, don't grow up too fast!

We Love Remodeling!

Look close, that's bubbled up horsehair plaster on our living room ceiling. How did it bubble??? Read on!

The day our roof was finished, we got a heavy downpour from the east. That wet spot you see is what leaked into the living room below. How nice.

This former nest is about 1 foot in diameter. It was pulled from the space just above our front door. I just hope that whatever lived in it is long gone. Else we're screwed when they come back!
Well, the roof is done, the hole that leaked patched and the soffits are almost done. We decided to do vinyl on those because they always look the cruddiest. Not to mention any leaking issues always came from those areas and apparently critter problems as well. The vinyl will allow more ventilation upstairs.
I knew trouble would find us in this whole process, I know of little else as stressful as home renovations. The leaking was a result of a small hole left at the corner of the dormer because the roofer didn't want to rip out some flashing again when he did the soffits. It shouldn't have been an issue unless we got a huge rainstorm out of the east... Which we did the next day. They weren't pleased either, now they have to fix our ceiling.
Overall, the house is looking better. I will post a shot of the new roof and soffits soon along with the finished look we're hoping for. Lots of hope. Pray for us.
