It's a Girl!
The wait is finally over and although my second round with Pitocin was still awful (this time the epidural worked the way it should, bless drugs!) I'm happy to no longer be so pregnant. I can sleep longer than 20 mins and enjoy beer again!
M. S. Elkins was born at 8:48 pm March 4 after 12 hours of labor. For those that like labor horror stories, I caved on getting an epidural quick after 1/2 hour of constant contractions with no letup. Then I lingered at 4 cm for hours (but painless hours) They let me sit up, went to 6 cm, then stopped. Then in 45 minutes I went from 6cm to her being out. It was easier to push for 2 hours with Z. Hard and fast labor was not pleasant, could I have walked, I would have found something to knock myself out with.
She is a tad large like they predicted but like I said, I have birthing hips, no problem! 8 pounds 11 oz and 20 inches long. Pretty much the same size as her brother and if I mixed up their just born pictures, you'd never tell them apart.
Still in shock that she's a she. I really thought it was a boy. Many people thought we knew and were holding out but we didn't know. It was nice to have a surprise at the end. But boys are easier to wipe! I will have to get used to going in the girls sections without hyperventilating. They do make some nice, but not too frilly/sleezy stuff. I will let her be as girly and pink as she likes but I promise never to strap an elastic bow around her bald little head and cause her discomfort!
Enjoy the pictures, we will do our monthly updates here instead of email.
